FROM EXISTING LOGIC TO A WORKING SOLUTION

A clear path. Evidence at every stage.

Choose the right approach, validate what the business needs, and deliver a tested, supported solution. Scope, deliverables and review gates are agreed for each engagement. Open a stage for details.

  1. 01Assess the system and extract the knowledgeUnderstand what to migrate, enhance, retain or retire.

Inventory applications, data, interfaces, scheduled jobs and dependencies, including vendor support and licensing constraints. Analyse available source code and observed behaviour to document rules, calculations, workflows and exceptions. Compare migration, selective enhancement and replacement options against business value, risk and whole-of-life cost. Record evidence gaps, access needs and assumptions rather than treating undocumented behaviour as understood.

    DELIVERABLES

System and dependency map · Business-rule catalogue · Options assessment · Initial roadmap

Review pointSponsors agree the objectives, preferred approach and discovery gaps to resolve.

  2. 02Validate with the businessMake it easy for the people who know the process to review it.

Walk through plain-language rules, worked examples and lightweight prototypes in manageable sessions. Users confirm, correct or retire behaviour; we maintain the requirements and decisions so they do not have to recreate them from scratch.

    DELIVERABLES

Business and functional requirements · Decision log · Acceptance criteria

Review pointBusiness owners agree what to preserve, change and retire.

  3. 03Design and documentAgree the architecture, data strategy and service requirements.

Define the target application, interfaces, identity, network and hosting design for cloud, hybrid or client infrastructure. Agree performance, availability, accessibility, recovery-time and acceptable data-loss requirements. Plan data mapping, cleansing, historical records, retention and reconciliation, with named data owners. Where systems will coexist, define synchronisation and interface compatibility. Submit the architecture and security evidence to the client’s review process.

    DELIVERABLES

Solution architecture · Integration contracts · Data migration plan · Security and service requirements

Review pointThe design and migration approach pass the client’s agreed approval gates.

  4. 04Migrate, rebuild or enhanceDeliver the chosen approach in manageable increments.

Move workloads to the agreed stack, rebuild selected components or improve the existing application. Enhance functionality, usability and maintainability while preserving approved behaviour. Prepare repeatable data transformations, deployment pipelines and configuration across development, test and production environments. Sequence delivery around dependencies and review working increments with users, including coexistence with the current service where required.

    DELIVERABLES

Migrated or enhanced application · Data migration routines · Deployment pipelines · Release plan

Review pointWorking increments demonstrate the agreed requirements and integration behaviour.

  5. 05Test and proveConnect each requirement to evidence that the result works.

Compare existing and changed behaviour with representative scenarios and controlled test data. Test rules, calculations, interfaces, regression, accessibility, performance, security and recovery. Rehearse data migration and reconcile record counts, control totals and business results; assign owners to resolve exceptions. Where required, run both systems in parallel and compare outputs. Keep approved functional changes distinct from behaviour that must remain equivalent.

    DELIVERABLES

Traceability matrix · Test and reconciliation results · Defect records · Business acceptance

Review pointBusiness and technical owners accept the evidence and remaining risks before go-live.

  6. 06Cut over, stabilise and hand overProtect continuity through go-live and the first operating cycles.

Rehearse a cutover runbook with named owners, communications, change freezes, final data synchronisation and an agreed outage window. Define go/no-go authority, rollback triggers and how new transactions will be preserved if recovery is needed. Verify the service after release and provide time-bound early-life support with agreed exit criteria. Hand over monitoring, runbooks and training; retire the old system only after acceptance, retention and recovery obligations are resolved.

    DELIVERABLES

Cutover and recovery runbooks · Support and handover plan · Training · Retirement checklist

Review pointThe service owner accepts operations and authorises any legacy-system retirement.

WE DO THE INVESTIGATION. YOU APPLY THE JUDGEMENT.

Less demand on your business teams.

Your users know the business. We make it easier for them to validate the requirements through focused questions, understandable examples and visible decisions.

We prepare the evidence

We investigate the system and organise its behaviour into rules, process maps and examples. Your team starts with something concrete to review.

Your users apply their judgement

Focused walkthroughs surface exceptions and decisions. Users confirm what is right, explain what needs to change and see their feedback reflected.

Decisions stay connected

Agreed requirements carry through into design, implementation and test evidence. Changes remain visible throughout delivery.

Older systems often hold years of business knowledge: rules, calculations and workflows that your organisation relies on. TechRev helps you carry that knowledge forward into a modern, maintainable solution.

We analyse available code, databases, interfaces and documentation to uncover the logic behind the system. We turn that evidence into understandable rules and process maps, and identify uncertainties for focused review.

Your users should not have to reconstruct requirements from scratch. We prepare worked examples and interactive walkthroughs so they can confirm what is right, correct exceptions and decide what should change. We document the decisions and agreed acceptance criteria.

The target solution is designed around your enterprise architecture, integrations and hosting requirements, with your architecture and security teams involved at agreed review gates. We address applicable ISM controls and agreed Essential Eight maturity requirements, and prepare evidence to support independent IRAP assessment where required.

We rebuild in increments on an agreed modern technology stack, with opportunities to improve usability, automation and maintainability. Cloud, hybrid or client-hosted deployment can be considered to fit your needs. Where AI assists delivery, its use is governed and its outputs are reviewed.

Testing connects each agreed requirement to evidence. We compare old and new behaviour, check calculations and integrations, reconcile migrated data, and test performance, security and recovery. Business acceptance, rehearsed cutover and operational handover complete the path to a supported service.

With budgets under pressure, modernisation needs to be practical and cost-effective. We build on the knowledge already in your systems, reduce the burden on your teams, and stage delivery around the outcomes and funding that matter to you.

DESIGN, REVIEW, VERIFY

Clear ownership. Evidence for every decision.

Delivery governance, architecture, data protection and cybersecurity shape the work from the outset. Your organisation retains its approval and risk-acceptance decisions, supported by clear evidence.

Delivery governance

Agree scope, responsibilities, milestones, migration waves and acceptance owners. Maintain risks, issues, dependencies and change decisions, with visibility of delivery costs, parallel-running costs and expected benefits. Coordinate client, supplier and delivery teams around the same plan.

Your architecture review

Align with enterprise standards, integration patterns, hosting constraints and operational ownership. Your architecture authority reviews the proposed solution at agreed gates.

Security built into delivery

Design for applicable ISM controls and agreed Essential Eight maturity requirements. Address identity, privileged access, encryption, patching, logging, backups and recovery across the application and hosting environment.

Evidence for assessment

Prepare security documentation, control mappings and verification evidence to support independent IRAP assessment where required. The client retains its assessment and risk-acceptance decisions.

Controlled use of AI

Where appropriate, AI can assist code analysis, documentation, implementation and test preparation. Agree permitted tools and data handling first; people review outputs before they form part of the delivered solution.

Accountable data handling

Agree data ownership, classification, residency, retention and access throughout migration. Protect transfers and test environments, reconcile results with source records, and obtain data-owner acceptance. Archive or dispose of legacy copies through the client’s approved process.

Testing beyond the happy path

Business rules & calculations · Regression · Integrations · Data reconciliation · Accessibility · Performance · Security · Recovery · User acceptance
