BEYOND SPREADSHEETS

Less reconciliation.
More understanding.

One model. A shared understanding.

People closest to delivery need to understand and manage their budgets. Cubix brings finance and operations into the same model, reducing duplicate entry and the reconciliation between separate spreadsheets.

See the whole financial story.

Connect external funding, internal allocations, operational plans and actual consumption. Follow a position from the organisation-wide view into the detail that explains it.

Make recurring work repeatable.

Move recurring spreadsheet processes into managed workflows. Scheduled, validated and logged runs make the process easier to operate, review and hand over.

MODELLING WITH CUBIX

Think in multiple dimensions.

Model your business through connected dimensions, rather than separate spreadsheets. Explore the same information by account, period, organisation, project and version.

  • Build dimensions, hierarchies and cubes around your organisation.
  • Compare budgets, forecasts and scenarios across consistent structures.
  • Move between consolidated positions and the detail behind them.
One model. Multiple perspectives.

AUSTRALIAN PUBLIC-SECTOR USE CASE

One connected journey. Configured for your agency.

Explore an illustrative Australian public-sector use case spanning costing, funding, budgeting, forecasting and project oversight.

Public-sector financial planning connects many decisions: what an initiative will cost, how it will be funded, who owns its resources, and how delivery compares with the plan. When those decisions live in separate spreadsheets, seeing the whole picture takes time.

This illustrative Cubix use case brings that journey into a shared planning environment. Follow a fictional Service Access Improvement initiative from its first costing through to budget and delivery review.

Start with the options. Model staffing, contractors and operating costs across financial years. Use centrally governed assumptions and reusable salary and costing rules to compare the resource requirements behind each proposal.

Connect the costed proposal to external budgeting and funding allocations. Translate the funding position into internal plans, with clear ownership of resources and visibility of the activities and projects consuming their cost.

As circumstances change, explore alternatives before updating the plan. Test a revised recruitment schedule, review the forecast and compare actual expenditure with budget. Bring funding, resources and delivery information together through Project 360.

Configured imports, extracts and repeatable data flows reduce manual handoffs. Optional AI assistance helps users investigate movements and prepare supported changes. Governed tools and the calculation engine perform the work; authorised people review and apply changes.

This is one representative use case. Cubix can be configured and extended around your agency's structures, business rules, workflows, integrations and reporting needs. Start with the process that matters most, then build the connected view your organisation needs.

A PATH FROM YOUR EXISTING MODEL

A modern alternative to IBM Planning Analytics/TM1.

Budget pressures are real. Cubix offers a path to modernise your planning platform, improve efficiency and explore lower licensing, maintenance and enhancement costs—while preserving the business logic your organisation relies on.

Migrate model structures and supported rules into Cubix, with a modern planning and reporting interface and AI-assisted development that authorised users control. Access permissions, validation and human approval keep changes governed.

Start with a migration assessment to evaluate compatibility, compare calculations against your existing model, and understand the work and potential savings before committing to a transition.

Ask in business terms

Use conversational analysis to discover relevant model structures and investigate a question. Context and assumptions help make the proposed interpretation visible.

Use governed tools

The model requests tools from a defined catalogue. A server-side access layer evaluates those requests against the caller’s permissions before returning results.

Inspect the evidence

The engine performs calculations and the server constructs data tables and charts. AI commentary helps interpret that evidence and remains subject to human review.

Review before applying

Proposed changes follow a separate validation and approval path. The person applying a change remains accountable, with AI assistance recorded in its provenance.

ARCHITECTURE & TRUST

Built around
your boundaries.

Identity, scoped access and traceable changes connect the application and AI to the planning engine.

Security architecture
The governed request path
  1. IdentityEstablish the caller.
  2. PermissionsApply relevant access policies.
  3. EngineCalculate within scope.
  4. AuditRecord governed activity.

Identity & access

Sign-in establishes the user’s identity. Cubix supports Entra ID through OpenID Connect, alongside built-in authentication. Roles and configured policies govern access to application functions and data.

Scoped data access

AI tools use a reader bound to the caller and workspace. Reads apply the same secured services used by the application, including the relevant element, row and cell restrictions.

Human-controlled changes

AI proposes structured changes for review. Proposals are validated and staged before an authorised person applies them; the model does not directly commit changes to the engine.

Traceability & operational controls

AI-assisted commits carry provenance, governed AI reads have a value-free audit trail, and administrative events use a hash-chained log. Deployment design also covers TLS, secret management, backups and retention.

AI providers & data protection

Metadata guides the AI. Governed tools execute the work. Cubix uses model structure and business context to help AI formulate requests, while deterministic tools enforce access permissions and perform data operations. The AI has no direct engine access; authorised result previews can be returned to support analysis.

Self-hosted AI

A self-hosted model endpoint can operate inside your organisation’s chosen trust boundary. Model and embedding services must both be configured within that boundary.

Cloud AI providers

A configured cloud provider receives prompts, conversation context and authorised tool-result previews, which can include real cell values. Provider selection, processing location and contractual data handling form part of deployment design.

Administrative control

Administrators choose the AI configuration and available helpers. Runtime controls can disable AI, while access policies and usage controls govern how it is used.

Audit, review & accountability

AI access is scoped to the user and workspace. Replayed requests are checked against current access rights. Governed AI reads withhold results if their required audit record cannot be written.

AI-assisted commits carry provenance. The person applying a change remains accountable, and the calculation engine stays separate from the language model.
